Hilton, the world’s first global hotel company, celebrates its milestone 100th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, hundreds of hotels around the world are extending Hilton hospitality beyond their doors by taking “Random Acts of Hospitality” to their communities – from Chicago to Shanghai, Dublin to Dubai and everywhere in between.

As it looks ahead to its next century, Hilton also announced today the creation of The Hilton Effect Foundation, which will help create a better world to travel by investing in both organizations and people having a positive impact on the communities Hilton serves. The Foundation is launching with 15 grants to organizations that will support communities around the world. These inaugural grants will support programs around the globe that are creating opportunities for youth, aiding in disaster recovery, and supporting water stewardship and sustainability.

The Foundation builds on the impact already driven by Hilton through its Travel with Purpose corporate responsibility strategy. Since the inception of Travel with Purpose in 2011, Hilton’s Team Members have performed more than 1.3 million hours of volunteer service.

Celebrating Hilton’s 100th anniversary with hospitality and a global Foundation speaks to the company’s founding vision.
Phyllis sheltonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11964808914285085480noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544588497375179677.post-82018069698479980682019-08-01T01:53:00.001-04:002019-08-08T18:37:23.791-04:00Southwest Airline Relocating to LaGuardia

A top priority for any event planner is making sure their attendees are comfortable. This can mean everything from ordering enough food to controlling the temperature in the conference room. It also requires welcoming people from all walks of life and ensuring that they feel welcome at your event.

Sometimes the simplest change is all it takes to make an attendee feel
welcome. Following are a few suggestions on where to start to make your
next event more inclusive of all genders and sexual identifications.

It seeks to encourage involvement from governments, civil society, the corporate sector and individuals alike, to inspire action and
help prevent this heinous crime.

In the meeting and event industry, we pride ourselves on having a positive impact on the communities that we visit. It is time to
gather our courage and take a stand for those who can’t by wearing a BLUE HEART on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDATP) on July 30th.

The Blue Heart is increasingly recognized as the international symbol against human trafficking, representing the sadness of those who
are trafficked. The campaign allows people to show their solidarity with the victims of human trafficking and increasing their visibility by
wearing the Blue Heart.

Four Actions to Support WDATP
1. Wear a blue heart in support of the Blue Heart Campaign. By wearing the Blue Heart everyone can show their support and express their solidarity
with trafficking victims.
2. Inform yourself by downloading the brochure on this year's theme and on UNODC's work on human trafficking.
3. If you see something, say something. Call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at (888) 373-7888 if you notice any of the
signs of trafficking.
4. Donate to the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking. The UN Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons provides aid and
protection to victims of trafficking by identifying vulnerable victims, especially women and children, and offers essential services such as shelter,
food, medical care, psycho-social support, legal aid, vocational training, access to justice and compensation.

5 Best Quick Fundraising Methods
by Joe Garecht - The Fundraising Authority

Quick fundraising usually isn’t good fundraising. Most of the time, non-profits are well advised to spend time getting to know their prospects and donors, cultivating them, and executing a well-written fundraising plan to raise the money they need to operate.

Of course, there are times when every organization, no matter how well run, comes into financial difficulty, whether it be caused by a downturn in the economy, a major donor leaving the fold, or a need to rapidly expand your programs or physical plant. When that time comes, your church, school, or charity will need to come up with a fundraising strategy – and fast. Here are the 5 best quick fundraising methods you can use to help you get back on track:

1. Reach Out to Current Donors

The people most likely to give money to your organization are those who have already done so. That’s right… your best new donors are your current donors. Figure out a way to go back to them to ask them to give again. Hold an event, send out a mailing, make calls. Tell your donors why you need them to be generous once again.

2. Run a Mini-Campaign

You’ve heard of major fundraising campaigns, right? This time, hold a mini-campaign. Decide how much you need to raise, then structure it just like a major fundraising campaign. Have a campaign chair and vice chairs, do a small booklet explaining your revenue needs on the office copy machine, hold a kick-off, and track your progress during this short-duration quick fundraising campaign.

3. Pre-Sell Future Events and Activities

This is one of the best quick fundraising tactics. If you’ve got a major fundraising event coming up later in the year, or some other activity like a walk-a-thon or raffle that you know about in advance, pre-sell tickets for a reduced rate or in return for additional recognition as a “charter” or “early” sponsor. Raise money for your current needs using future events and activities.

4. Hold Viral Fundraising Events

If you need money quick, chances are you won’t have time to pull together a major fundraising event. Instead, talk to your best supporters and ask them to host small viral fundraising events on your behalf. Using this strategy, you hold lots of little fundraising events in supporters’ homes, with them inviting their networks and paying for refreshments. Lots of little events can add up quick. If your group needs to raise a quick $10,000, all you need using this method is to find 10 people to each host a $1,000 event in their home… doable for most organizations. And since the event hosts do most of the work, you can pull this off very quickly.

5. Cut Costs

OK, so this isn’t a quick fundraising method per se, but cutting costs around the edges can really add to the bottom line. Every dollar you cut from your expenses is a dollar you don’t have to raise. Many organizations have been able to cut 2-5% from their budgets relatively painlessly, and without laying off staff. Take a good hard look at your expenses and see what you can cut, at least for the short term.

You are in a foreign place. You have no friends, no family or no familiar faces in your immediate vicinity. To top it off your fish or plants died and your cat ran away. Now you really have no one to talk to get you through the day. You don't know anyone that can help you find a job or acquire clients to get your business off the ground. This may sound a bit extreme, but sometimes life's nasty curve balls make us feel lost or forlorn. We don't know where to begin to acquire that little jump-start to recharge our career or business. <span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">The good news is the World is still alive and bustling with a flurry of events.
